Cyprus reports 14 COVID-19 cases on Thursday

Cyprus reported 14 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total to 1,305, the Ministry of Health announced.

The new cases were detected from 3,387 tests. Three patients are being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital, one of them in the advanced care unit.

The Health Ministry announced that 8 of the positive cases were detected in the framework of random testing of 463 samples in Paphos district. Two of the persons are from Paphos, one is asymptomatic, one person is from Larnaka without symptoms, two are a couple from Limassol and have no symptoms and the other three are from Nicosia, also without symptoms and are not related.

Two cases were detected at the airports. They are Cypriots (couple) and have returned from Thessaloniki, displaying no symptoms. Another four people were found from the contact tracing process and are from the same cluster of the case from the US. Another person was tested privately and is a contact of a family case while the other two were also tested privately and are related to the cluster of the pool party. This cluster has so far five positive people.
 
Analytically the cases were reported as follows:

Four cases were detected out of 108 samples from contact tracing, two from 1,368 samples at the airports, eight out of 631 samples taken via the random testing program of 10,000 people.

Zero cases were detected out of 888 tests done on a private initiative, out of 40 tests from referrals of GPs, out of 261 tests done at employees who went back to work during the 2nd and 3rd phase of the relaxation of the measures, out of 91  tests done at the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals.
