Cyprus reports 5 deaths and 3.854 new COVID-19 cases

Cyprus Health Ministry on Friday announced 5 deaths and 3.854 new COVID-19 cases reported between 2-8/12. A total of 94 patients are in hospital and the positivity rate stands at 5,47%.

The deceased are 4 male and a female between the ages of 64 -94 years.

Total deaths since the pandemic broke out is 1.242 and total cases rose to 622.102.

Eleven patients are in serious condition of whom 3 are intubated.

A total of 70.518 tests were carried out the above mentioned week.

PCR tests were 1.907 and 190 cases were reported (positivity rate 9,96%). A total of 68.611 rapid tests were carried out and 3.664 cases were reported (PR 5,34%).

On private initiative 1.492 PCR tests were done and 117 cases were reported (PR 7,84%) while from 45.172 rapid tests , 3.406 cases were detected (PR 7,54%).

Via the Ministry’s programs 23.439 rapid tests were done and 258 tests were positive while at testing points 14.844 rapid tests were conducted and 172 were positive (PR 1,16%).

In elementary schools 3 cases were detected from 127 rapid tests (PR 2,36%) while in high schools from 638 tests 4 were positive (PR 0,63%).

In nursing homes 5.304 tests were carried out and 76 cases were detected (PR 1,43%) while in closed units 3 cases were detected from 2.526 rapid tests (PR 0,12%).
