Cyprus reports 58 COVID cases on Tuesday

Cyprus Health Ministry on Tuesday announced 58 new COVID cases from a total of 43,028 tests with the positivity rate to stand at 0,13%. The total cases since the pandemic broke out in Cyprus are 72,515 and the total deaths 360.

The number of patients in hospitals dropped to 66 of whom 27 are in serious condition.

From the 360 deaths 240 are male (67%), and 120 female (33%) and the median age is  78 years.

From the  27 patients in serious condition, 16 are intubated, 3 are in the ICU and 8 in ACU.

From the 43,028 tests, 5,963 were done with the PCR method and 37,065 were rapid tests.

Today`s cases were detected as follows:

Five from 92 samples taken in the framework of contact tracing, 4 from 2,324 tests at airports, 19 from 2,942 tests done on private initiative, 3 from 520 rapid tests done at private labs and pharmacies, 27 from 36,545 rapid tests done in the framework of mass testing of the population. No positive case was detected from 287 tests done at Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals, from 219  samples taken after GP referrals or testing at public clinics and from 99 tests done at Kato Pyrgos Tillirias residents.

The positivity rate from rapid tests is: in Nicosia 0.06% from tests 12,081, in Limassol 0.13% from 7,852 tests, in Larnaka 0.10% from 3,106 tests, in Paphos 0.03% from 3,776 tests and in Famagusta 0.05% from 2,138 tests.
