Cyprus reports one death to COVID-19, 562 new infections

The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday the death of a 92-year-old man to COVID -19, bringing the total number of deaths to 327, of whom 214 men (65%), and 113 women (35%).  Their median age is 77,9.

Meanwhile, 246 patients are receiving treatment in state hospitals, 67 of whom in a serious condition. The media age of the patients is 58,6.

It also announced that 57,314 tests were carried out and 562 new cases were detected (positivity rate stands at 0,98%). Since the outbreak of the pandemic 67,982 people were infected and 327 died.

Out of the 67 patients who are in a critical condition 28 are intubated.

In the Famagusta General Hospital there are 56 patients, in the Nicosia General Hospital 72, in the Limassol General Hospital 55, 34 are being treated in the Larnaka General Hospital, in the Pafos General Hospital there are 23, and in the Makario Hospital in Nicosia 6 patients.

The 562 new infections were diagnosed after 57,314 tests done with the PCR method (6,001) and the antigen rapid test method (51,313). The cases were found as follows:  84 from contact tracing, 4 from samples taken at the airports, 95 from tests done after private initiative, 9 from samples taken in the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 2 from GP referrals, 28 from antigen rapid tests done in private laboratories and pharmacies and 340 from antigen rapid tests.
