Cyprus has decided to suspend the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 until Thursday 18 of March.

A press release by the Ministry of Health says that it was decided to temporary postpone vaccinations with the AstraZeneca vaccine until Thursday, March 18 pending  the review of the Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) of the European Medicines Agency, which is investigating a series of blood clot incidents in people who had been vaccinated with this particular vaccine in EU countries.

The Ministry clarifies that the scheduled vaccination appointments with the  Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines will be carried out as planned.
