Finance Minister expresses support to Health Insurance Organization

Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos expressed on Thursday the Government’s support to efforts by the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) to improve the quality of services provided and deal with any problems.

Speaking after his meeting with the President and the Board of Directors of the HIO, in Nicosia, for the first time since assuming office, Keravnos said that his visit shows the Government's interest in the institution, “an institution that belongs to the people, an institution that the new Government says that it must be safeguarded and strengthened in order to be able to respond to the needs of our society.”

Keravos pointed out that he assured the President and the Board of Directors of HIO that he would be by their side in their actions and initiatives, especially in order to improve the quality of the services provided, but also to deal with the various weaknesses and problems that arise.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of ΗΙΟ Stavros Michael, said he was confident that the cooperation with the Minister would result in outcomes that would benefit the entire society.

He also said that the ΗΙΟ will continue its actions and planning to offer quality and upgraded services to the people who contribute to the General Healthcare System of Cyprus.
