Flu shots to start early October

The Ministry of Health has announced that it will start early October the flu vaccine for the vulnerable groups of society.

It said the aim is the timely protection of the vulnerable elderly from seasonal infections ahead of the winter season. For this reason, the Ministry will start vaccinations early October.

During a meeting, Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantela had with Health Ministry and Health Insurance Organisation officials, he was thoroughly informed on the procedure to be followed in vaccinating those eligible.

Vaccinations for Influenza A will take place at personal doctors’ clinics, following the same procedure as last year with more information released next week.

The Minister was informed of the timeline to receive the 180 thousand vaccines ordered, a number which is 25 thousand more than last year. So far 60 thousand have been received and the second batch will include 50 thousand and will arrive within the week. The remaining vaccines will be received gradually by the end of October.
