Four deaths, including a 19- year-old man, succumb to COVID-19

Four deaths due to COVID-19 - including a 19-year-old with underlying health conditions - and 1,546 new cases were announced by the Ministry of Health on Friday for the period between April 7-20.

At the same time, the positivity rate was 2.44% while 46 patients are hospitalized, 6 of whom are in serious condition.

The Ministry of Health press release said that the four deaths include three men aged 19, 79, and 88 who died between April 3rd and 10th, and one woman who died on April 6th.

The Ministry of Health told CNA that the 19-year-old man suffered from underlying health conditions.

According to official data, as of April 20th, there have been 1,354 deaths reported with the final (underlying) cause of death being COVID-19.

Regarding hospitalizations, 46 patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized in the hospitals of the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO), six of whom are in serious condition in the ICU, with three of them intubated.

In addition, between April 7-20, a total of 63,125 diagnostic tests were performed and 1,546 new cases were detected, with the total number of cases now reaching 658,450. The positivity rate for all tests stands at 2.44%.

The next update on the new COVID-19 cases will be made on May 6, the Ministry added.
