Health Ministry announced one death and 276 new COVID cases

Cyprus Ηealth Ministry announced one death and 276 new COVID cases on Monday bringing total of deaths to 337 and total cases to 69,708.  Moreover it announced that 207 patients are in hospitals across the island and 64 of them are in serious condition.

Today`s cases were detected from a total of 83,418 tests (PCR and rapid).  The deceased is a male  84 years old who passed away at the ICU of the Nicosia General Hospital.

From the 337 deaths,  222  are male (66%), and 115 female (34%)  and their median age is 78 years. From the 64 patients in serious condition, the 31 are intubated 3 are in an ICU and 30 in ACU.

From the  83,418 tests, the 8,373 were done with PCR method and 75,045 were rapid tests and the cases were detected as follows:

51  from 992  samples in the framework of contact tracing, 12 from 5,195 tests at airports, 30 from 1,564 done on private initiative, 13 from 476 samples at the Microbilogical Labs of General Hospitals , 23 from 2,265 rapid tests done at private clinics and pharmacies ,

147 from 72,780 rapid tests. No case was detected from 146 tests done after GP referrals or testing at public clinics.

The positivity rate from rapid tests stands at 0,19% in Nicosia, 0,26% in Limassol, 0,22% in Larnaka, 0,10% in Paphos and 0,11% in Famagusta.
