Cyprus’ Ministry of Health in an announcement on Sunday, draws the public’s attention in terms of visits to places where many people intermingle, following the recent domestic cases of COVID-19 disease which were identified in Limassol.

Referring specifically to the case of five employees in “Wagamama” restaurant in Limassol Marina who tested positive to COVID-19, the Ministry stresses once again that all citizens have an individual and social responsibility to protect public health and to maintain the country’s good epidemiological picture. It adds that “reinstatement of restrictive measures is the last resort and we must all prevent such a possibility.”

Regarding the cases in the Limassol Marina’s restaurant, it notes that all employees have been tested and the area has been disinfected for two consecutive days, observing the relevant protocol.

In the announcement, the Ministry of Health points out that it is extremely important, despite the relaxation of restrictions, for all citizens to take individual precautionary measures, especially when visiting places where large number of people gather, such as restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, shopping malls etc. where the measure of social distancing cannot be easily applied.

It is also reminded that the use of a mask is mandatory for employees in customer service positions, such as, among others, cashiers, salespersons, waiters and employees who prepare drinks and food.

At the same time, the Ministry adds, the social distancing measures should be applied between the employees at all hours, especially during breaks, when there is more contact between them.

The Ministry also urges citizens to monitor their health, especially if they have visited places where COVID-19 cases have been identified, and if they have any coronavirus symptoms, to contact immediately their personal doctor.
