HIO: One of the biggest reforms is now a reality

Cyprus’ Health Insurance Organization (HIO) points out that one of the biggest social reforms since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus is now a reality, in a press release on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of Cyprus’ General Health System (GHS).

The Organisation notes that all that time it has managed to overcome obstacles and adversity by delivering to the beneficiaries a human-centered health system with a social status.

It also says that after the first two years of operation, GHS has now more than 1,800 specialist doctors, 560 personal doctors, 190 pediatricians, 150 laboratories, 550 pharmacies, 50 hospitals and 1,800 other health professionals.

It is added that 892,100 beneficiaries were registered in the GHS and in a list of a Personal Doctor, 836,000 visited Personal Doctors, 660,000 visited Specialist Doctors, 408,000 visited Specialist Doctors for Diagnostic Examinations, 685,000 received medication, 604,000 underwent laboratory tests and 81,000 received inpatient care services.
