Ministry of Health announced 197 coronavirus cases on Sunday

The Cyprus Ministry of Health announced on Sunday 197 new coronavirus cases out of 3,053 laboratory tests.

It is noted that in the Famagusta General Hospital there are 26 patients with  SARS-CoV-2 being treated, four of whom in the Intensive Care Unit. In the Nicosia General Hospital five patients are in the Intensive Care Unit while eight more are in the COVID 19 ward.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Cyprus has recorded 4,563 coronavirus cases.

The 197 new cases were found as follows. 81 out of 300 samples taken after contact tracing, 73 out of 826 samples taken upon private initiative, 10 out of  130 tests carried out in the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 16 out of 978 tests done at airports, 4 out of 254 samples taken at schools, 4 out of 78 tests done in refugee camps, 1 out of 33 samples taken at football clubs, and 8 out of 250 tests done in Kyperounta.

Meanwhile, no positive cases were found out of 198 laboratory tests done after GP referrals and out of 6 tests done in Polis Chrysochous.
