Ministry of Health announced nine new COVID-19 cases

Νine new Covid-19 cases were detected in Cyprus and announced by the Ministry of Health on Sunday afternoon, from a total of  2,919 lab tests, bringing the total number of cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in Cyprus to 1,242.

According to data by the Epidemiological Monitoring Unit, the nine cases were detected as follows:

Five cases were found in 108 samples from contact tracing of existing cases, three cases were found in 393 samples taken on private initiative, one of which had a recent travel history, one case was detected in 153 samples taken under the programme to test 10,000 employees.

Additionally, tests were also carried out with no cases detected as follows:  192 tests carried out under the program of referrals by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 112 tests carried out by the General Hospitals` Microbiology Labs, 1,446 from passenger control and 515 tests from the program of random tests of 10,000 people.

At the Famagusta General Hospital, five patients are still being treated. Their condition is described by the doctors as good and stable.
