Police report 25 people for not wearing protective masks

Cyprus police reported 25 individuals in the last 24 hours for the non - use of a protective mask in various premises. Thirteen of the people reported were employees in various premises. Measures in place to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in Cyprus make it mandatory for employees of businesses who come in contact with the public or who prepare food and beverages to wear protective masks. All citizens are required to wear protective masks when shopping in indoors spaces.

A police press office spokesperson told CNA on Sunday that out of 842 checks conducted across the island in various premises, 25 people were reported for violation of the decrees related to the containment of the pandemic.

In Nicosia district out of 38 checks two people were reported for not wearing a mask, one of them an employee. In Limassol district out of 163 checks two employees were reported for the not wearing a mask as well as another four other individuals. In Larnaca district out of 294 checks four individuals were reported. In Pafos district out of 50 checks five employees and another two individuals were reported. In Famagusta district out of 195 checks three employees were reported, while in the area of Morphou out of 102 checks, two individuals were reported.
