Seven new Covid-19 cases announced on Sunday

Seven new coronavirus cases were announced by the Ministry of Health on Sunday. The seven cases were detected after a total of 2474 tests. The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in Cyprus now stands at 1339.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, one person was tested positive for Covid-19 out of 21 samples taken after referrals by personal doctors and checks of special groups through Public Health Centers.

One person tested positive out of 98 samples taken from private initiatice.

Another 3 cases were detected after testing 1492 samples from people who were repatriated or from passengers.

Additionally, 2 more people tested positive for Covid-19 from random sampling of 10000 people.

Two of the new cases are not showing any symptoms.

According to the Epidemiological Monitoring Unit, the following tests were carried out with negative results: 29 tests of contacts of already confirmed cases; 101 completed by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals.

The Ministry of Health also announced that two persons are currently in the Famagusta General Hospital. One of them is being treated in the Increased Care Unit. Another person was discharged from the Hospital.
