Three deaths and 2,987 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday

Cyprus Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that three more COVID-19 patients have died, while 2,987 new coronavirus cases have been detected. The positivity rate stands at 3.53%.

The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 is now 949 and of confirmed COVID-19 cases 446,999. Currently 207 COVID-19 patients are treated in hospital.

The people who have lost their lives are a 96-year-old man who passed away on April 4, a 71-year-old woman who died also on April 4, and an 87-year-old woman who passed away on April 5.

The condition of 30 of the patients who are in hospital is critical, 6 are intubated in an Intensive Treatment Unit and 4 are treated in an Intensive Treatment Unit but are not intubated, while 20 are treated in an Increased Care Unit.

Out of those hospitalised 56.04% have not been vaccinated.

Thirteen patients who have ceased to be contagious continue to be treated due to COVID-19 in an Intensive Treatment Unit and are intubated.

A total of 3,429  PCR tests were carried out out of which 287 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 8.37%).

Moreover, 81,289 rapid tests were conducted, out of which 2,700 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 3.32%).

During contact tracing 1,573 PCR tests were done and 60 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 3.81%). Also 567 rapid tests were carried out and 50 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 8.82%).

A total of 1,107 PCR tests were carried out on private initiative and 162 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 14.63%). Also 31,476 rapid tests were conducted and 1,779 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 5.65%).

A total of 921 positive cases were found out of 49,813 rapid tests done in the framework of the Health Ministry`s programmes.

At the sampling points, 13,470 rapid tests were carried out and 604 positive cases were traced (positivity rate 4.48%).

In elementary schools 18,691 rapid tests were done and 98 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 0.52%), while in secondary education 61 positive cases were traced out of 10,582 rapid tests (positivity rate 0.58%).

In the framework of the Test-to-Stay programme for schools 4,258 rapid tests were carried out and 51 positive cases were diagnosed (positivity rate 1.2%).

In homes for the elders 1,283 rapid tests were done and 51 positive cases were found (positivity rate 3.98%). In closed structures 3 positive cases were detected out of 483 rapid tests, while in government services 479 rapid tests were done and 3 positive cases were found (positivity rate 0.63%).
