Two new COVID-19 cases out of 1,658 tests

Two new COVID-19 cases were detected out of 1,658 tests, Cyprus authorities announced on Wednesday.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health, one case was detected out of 658 tests on passengers and people who have been repatriated and another one out of a total of 394 tests done on private initiative.

According to information from the Ministry of Health, the first case concerns a person who arrived from Romania (Category B) by air yesterday (July 14), while the second one is a contact of the gym employee in Limassol who tested positive to the virus, as announced on 13 July.

Also, according to the same piece of information, the Health Ministry was informed that the partner of the specialist doctor who tested positive as announced on Saturday, also tested positive after her laboratory examination in Romania.

No one tested positive after 87 tests carried out in the framework of the programme for 10,000 employees who went back to work during phase B and C of easing of restrictive measures, 244 tests completed as part of referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres and 53 tests carried out in the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.

There were no positive results either after one test done in the framework of the program carried out by the Ministry of Justice and Public Order for checking the staff working in the Courts, two tests done in the framework of the program for checking immigrant reception structures, 108 tests on National Guard conscripts and 111 tests carried out by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals.

After today’s results, the total number of cases of COVID-19 cases in Cyprus rose to 1,025.
