Board Member

Giorgos Michaelides was born in Nicosia on 22/6/1948. He lived in Ammochostos and he graduated from the Ammochostos Hellenic Gymnasium for Boys. He is married to Era Nicolaidou and he has two children, Christos 28 and Petros 25 years old. He studied National Economics at the University of Freiburg in Germany and Tourist Management at the Surrey University in the UK. He worked in the Commonwealth Secretariat in London and from 1976 to 1990 in the Cyprus Tourism Organization as Head of Promotion and Public Relations Department. From 1990 to 2006, he worked in Louis Group as Marketing Chief General Manager. In 2007 he became the Managing Director of George Chr. Michaelides Tourism Consulting Ltd. He has also been the Chairman of European Federation of Conference Towns, member of the European Tourism Action Group, member of the Board of Directors of Cyprus Tourist Development Company, Chairman of Marketing Committee for Cyprus Tourism, member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus International Conference Centre, member of the Board of Directors of the State Fairs Authority and Chairman of Cyprus PR Association. He is Chairman of the Association for Cultural Tourism and Tourism of Special Interest, Chairman of the National Committee SKAL, Chairman of Cyprus – Spain Business Association and member of the Board of Directors of Ammochostos Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He participates as speaker / trainer in international conferences on the special forms of tourism, the cruise tourism and the tourist marketing. He has been awarded with the Grand Cross of Germany for his contribution to the European Tourism and the development of the Cypro-German relations.
