Shipping Deputy Minister to the President, Vassilios Demetriades, welcomed on Tuesday the decision of marine insurer Steamship Mutual Underwriting Association (Europe) to begin operating in Cyprus. Companies of this calibre lent prestige and consolidate Cyprus as a quality hub for international shipping activities, the Minister said while visiting the company’s offices, in Limassol.
The Cyprus government, through the Deputy Ministry, approaches shipping companies and companies providing shipping services, choosing Cyprus as their headquarters, as “associates and ambassadors” of Cyprus Shipping, Demetriades said.
He also said that the effort to attract more shipping companies to Cyprus will continue once conditions, due to the pandemic, allow.
