02/04/2007 13:28
KEO announced on Monday that it has signed the final agreement with Heineken for the exclusive import, distribution and sale of Heineken beer and other relative beer brands in the Cyprus market. The agreement was signed via Heineken’s subsidiary, Athinaiki Brewery SA and will have an immediate effect. KEO will start distributing the beer in April 2007. “We are certain that this cooperation will succeed. KEO expects a significant increase in its turnover, since Heineken is the third best selling beer and has a respectable market share”, KEO Commercial Manger, Elias Sozou told StockWatch.

Since 1927, KEO is following an upward trend in its sector, expanding its activities outside Cyprus. KEO covers more than 30 countries in all 5 continents.

Heineken – Lanitis

The exclusive import, distribution and sale of Heineken beer was held by Lanitis Bros until recently. In March 2005, the Company established Heineken Lanitis Cyprus Ltd, a joint venture between Heineken International N.V and Lanitis Bros Ltd for the trading of Heineken and Amstel beers. Lanitis Bros has been acquired by Coca Cola 3E.

The agreement between KEO and Heineken concerns the transfer of activities of Heineken Cyprus to KEO by mutual consent.
