Jobless decline by an annual 58% in November 2021

Registered unemployed persons in Cyprus declined by an annual 57.6% in November 2021 to 13,977 persons, pushed downwards by accommodation and restaurants activities, trade and manufacturing.

According to data released on Friday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (Cystat), on a seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for November 2021 decreased to 14.857 persons in comparison to 15.154 in the previous month, continuing is downward trajectory since May 2020.

The annual decline in the registered unemployed persons is attributed mainly to the sectors of accommodation and food service activities, with a decline of 4,656 persons, trade where jobless fell by 3,839 persons, manufacturing  with drop of 1,229 persons.

In transportation and storage, the jobless fell by 990 persons, in construction by 887, while newcomers in the labour market dropped by 1,375 persons, Cystat added.
