Justice Minister highlights justice reform and fight against corruption as priorities

Cyprus Justice and Public Order Minister, Stephi Dracos, has highlighted that the bills on justice reform and the legal framework against corruption which are before Parliament constitute a priority for the Ministry, during a meeting she had on Tuesday, in Nicosia, with EU Home Affairs Commissioner, Ylva Johansson.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry, on her part the EU Commissioner focused on issues related to police cooperation, EUROPOL`s role, information sharing systems of member states on police and judicial issues, as well as issues related to children`s sexual abuse on the internet.

As it is noted, during the meeting the Minister presented the goals and the vision of the Ministry and said that voting of the bills on justice reform and the legal framework against corruption constitutes a priority. 

Moreover she referred to issues related to human trafficking, cybercrime, violence against women and child-friendly justice.

According to the press release, the discussion took place in a constructive climate, the Commissioner thanked the Minister for the update and the actions being promoted, and noted that the European Commission will be by Cyprus` side.

On her part, Dracos thanked the Commissioner for the support which the European Commission provides and underlined the importance of the cooperation of the member states with the EU, the press release concluded.
