Nicosia Court freezes Kyprianou’s assets

21/02/2006 11:14
The Nicosia District Court decided on Monday to freeze the bank accounts and the assets of Mr. Lykourgos Kypianou and his associated persons in Cyprus and abroad until the final hearing of the case.

The freezing of assets is already described in the decree of July 21, 2005, which followed the legal action filed by AremiSoft against Lykourgos Kyprianou, his wife, Noni, Pavlos Meletiou and the associated companies.

The 16 objections that had been raised by Mr. Kyprianou and his associated persons have been rejected, while the proposals of the prosecutors of AremiSoft have been accepted.

According to the court decision, the defendants will have to submit all the documents related to AremiSoft, something that was not allowed before.

It is worth noting that there are two pending cases before the Nicosia Court on the disclosure of documents by the Hellenic Bank, the Popular Bank, the Bank of Cyprus and Universal Bank with regard to Mr. Kyprianou’s transactions in 1998-2002 and the freezing of his properties in London.
