Authorities announced one more coronavirus case on Monday

Cyprus authorities announced on Monday one more confirmed coronavirus case out of 1,259 tests completed, with the total number of cases reaching 1,004.

Out of 1,259 laboratory tests completed, one person tested positive to SARS-CoV-2, a Ministry of Health press release says.

In particular, the new confirmed case tested positive out of 557 samples taken in the context of testing passengers and people repatriating to Cyprus. The individual who tested positive is a Cypriot citizen who arrived from the United States through Germany, on July 4, was tested upon arrival and has since remained in self-isolation.
 
“All actions provided for by the health protocols for the individual who tested positive to the virus and his contacts are underway,” the press release adds.

No individuals tested positive out of 12 tests completed as part of the contact tracing programme, 203 samples tested at the private initiative, 190 lab tests completed by the Microbiological Labs of the General Hospitals, 179 samples tested after referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres and 118 samples tested in the framework of the Justice and Public Order Ministry`s programme for testing people working at the Courts. 

“On the basis of today’s data, the total number of positive cases has reached 1,004,” the press release says.

It adds that one patient with COVID-19 continues to be treated at Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as the reference hospital for COVID-19.
