Pilots’ strike is against the rules, Taliadoros says

15/11/2004 15:40
The two-hour work stoppage of the Cyprus Airways pilots is against the rules, is not in line with the provisions of the Industrial Relations Code and leaves no margins for the Ministry’s conciliatory service to intervene, Labour Minister, Christos Taliadoros stated on Monday.

A Cyprus Airways representative had said that the seven flights affected by the work stoppage will be carried out either prior to or after the end of the work stoppage. So far, all flights based on the time change have been carried out.

Meanwhile, invited to comment on the statements of CAIR, Chairman, Constantinos Loizides that “pilots act as little children”, PASYPI Chairman, Efthimios Liasis wondered why has the Company trusted its aircrafts to people with childish minds”. Mr. Liasis said that the Company’s stance is unproductive and supported that pilots have reduced the labour and operating cost by more than £2 million.

It is worth noting that PASYPI has planned to extend the strike measures for next Thursday for the period of seven hours to protest against the Company’s decision to suspend the Larnaca – Warsaw flight.
